1. Wellbeing journals: order copies for your new students

   Copies of the new wellbeing journal are now available and staff are encouraged to order copies for their students.

2. LJMU PHD student Valeria Carini recognised at Pandemic Institute’s first Student Excellence Awards

   Valeria was presented the award alongside students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with grants for scientific research, aimed to enhance preparedness for future pandemics.

3. LJMU celebrate Chemistry Week with neurodiverse learners

   Staff and students from across Outreach, Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies and Faculty of Science joined forces with neurodiverse learners to celebrate Chemistry Week 2023.

4. Graduation review Thursday 12 July

   The morning saw graduations from Maritime and Mechanical Engineering, the Astrophysics Research Institute, Electronics and Electrical Engineering and the School of Nursing and Allied Health. In the afternoon Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering and Technology Research Institute, Civil Engineering and Built Environment all celebrated their graduations.

5. Reconstructing Ice Age environments

   A study into the feeding behaviour of two extinct European rhinoceros species has revealed an unexpected survival strategy for a mammalian family of the Ice Ages.

6. Lord Field of Birkenhead

   The university is saddened to learn of the death of our honorary fellow, Frank Field.

7. LJMU marks Armistice Day 2022

   Staff and students observed a two-minute silence across campus to mark Armistice Day.

8. UKRI open access monograph funding changes

   A reminder that UKRI has recently announced their guidance and requirements with regards to publishing open access monographs, which come into place from 1 January 2024.

9. School of Computer Science and Mathematics Christmas social and staff awards

   Staff and students gathered around for festive activities and to appreciate staff rewarded for work above and beyond their normal duties.

10. LJMU features in Ri Christmas Lectures

    Academics from LJMU will be helping to reveal the secrets of forensic science in the Royal Institution’s prestigious Christmas Lectures.
