Lord Field of Birkenhead

The university is saddened to learn of the death of our honorary fellow, Frank Field.

Lord Field was elected as the MP for Birkenhead in 1979 and served his community with distinction for 40 years.

A former director of the Child Poverty Action Group, he was a committed campaigner on welfare issues, from poverty and low pay to modern slavery. He also worked closely on a range of environmental issues across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

Lord Field was awarded LJMU’s highest honour, an honorary fellowship, in 2016 in recognition of his contribution to politics and his community.

Our thoughts are with Frank's loved ones.
