The number of active Graduate Start Ups are still on the rise at LJMU according to the latest annual Higher Education – Business and Community Interaction survey (HE-BCI).
The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.
It is with great sadness that LJMU announces the passing of Dr Malcolm Dixon who worked here for 30 years, until his retirement in 2015.

International Relations and Politics with Sociology Lecturer, Dr Jan Ludvigsen, shared insights from his book this week with the LJMU community ahead of its release on Friday 8 April.
LJMU is hosting the local heat of a new entrepreneur discovery competition, open to all University alumni and students. The Federation of Self-Employed and Small Businesses and FSB Connect are running the competition to give budding entrepreneurs a financial boost and raise their profile.
LJMU to broadcast the 15-minute session via Melodic Distraction on Mon 27 February from 8.30am.
LJMU invited speakers from different backgrounds to discuss their views on the issues that are still apparent in today’s society. The conference, Critically Thinking About Race, Religion and Belief/Non Belief was presented to a packed lecture theatre of academics, students and professionals.
