1. Staff car parking update August 2023

   The university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2024.

   Our next staff open day at the Student Life Building takes place on Wednesday 24 November, with networking opportunities, a chance to find out more about the building and its services, plus a free lunch.

3. The War Widows Quilt to be displayed on Armed Forces Day in Liverpool

   On Saturday 24 June 2023, in honour of Armed Forces Day, St George’s Hall will host a special exhibition of the War Widows Quilt, part of the War Widows Stories project led by LJMU academic Dr Nadine Muller.

7. Simulated evolution of the Universe

   A study conducted by an international team of astrophysicists, including Dr Rob Crain and Dr Ian McCarthy from the LJMU Astrophysics Research Institute (ARI), has emerged as one of the major research highlights of 2015.

8. First Step Spring Internships available for Level 4 students

   A new pilot internship programme for first year students (level 4 only) with little to no previous work experience launched on Monday 15 January and close at midnight on Sunday 4 February. There will be no interview process for these opportunities, the Student Futures team will undertake a matching process between participating organisations and students. The internships will begin on Monday 4 March (start dates may vary for each role).

9. A giant interstellar bubble being grown in the Andromeda Galaxy

   An international team of astrophysicists have uncovered an enormous bubble current being ‘blown’ by the regular eruptions from a binary star system within the Andromeda Galaxy.
