1. Liverpool’s key position in creating more active and healthy communities across the Globe

   A worldwide network of active cities is set to expand following a knowledge-sharing event attended by ten different countries.

2. Graduation review Thursday 12 July

   The morning saw graduations from Maritime and Mechanical Engineering, the Astrophysics Research Institute, Electronics and Electrical Engineering and the School of Nursing and Allied Health. In the afternoon Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering and Technology Research Institute, Civil Engineering and Built Environment all celebrated their graduations.

3. Graduation review Friday 13 July

   Students from the Liverpool School of Art and Design and the Liverpool Screen School celebrated their success in the morning ceremonies, while the School of Humanities and Social Science and the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies were recognised in the afternoon procession.

8. New stars discovery shed new light on Galaxy's formation

   An astronomer from LJMU’s Astrophysics Research Institute has discovered a new family of stars in the core of the Milky Way Galaxy which provides new insights into the early stages of the Galaxy’s formation.

   Business Minister, Rt Hon Anna Soubry MP, visited the site of the new Sensor City to see how the £15 million facility will revolutionise sensor technologies.

10. World-class status for Sport and Exercise Sciences in new academic ranking

    Liverpool John Moores University’s School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has been named the 6th best department in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for the Sports Sciences subject area, highlighting the School’s global research influence. The results also show the School ranked as the 2nd best department in the UK and the 3rd best in Europe.
