1. Chancellor sees "extraordinary" health students in action

   LJMU Chancellor, Nisha Katona MBE, dropped in for a visit to the Faculty of Health and was moved by the “extraordinary students” that she spoke with and learnt new skills from.

3. UK's chief scientists visit The Pandemic Institute

   The UK Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Lucy Chappell visited Liverpool this week to learn more about the role of The Pandemic Institute and its partner institutions, in tackling infectious diseases.

4. Free health and wellbeing merchandise for staff

   T-shirts, outerwear, mugs and water bottles are now available to help staff get talking and thinking about their health and wellbeing.

5. LJMU’s Football Exchange given spotlight at football industry awards

   Members from LJMU’s world-class Football Exchange shared their vision and insights on science and football research with their peers as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards.

6. North West Higher Education Action Learning Programme

   LJMU are offering up to ten places for women working in academic and professional services roles to take part in cross institutional action learning sets with peers from universities in the North West region.

7. International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) - 3rd December 2019

   1981 was designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Disabled People and since then, 3rd December has been marked as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day aims to promote a better understanding of disability issues with a focus on the rights of disabled people and the gains derived from their integration into every aspect of the political, social, economic and cultural life of our communities.

8. Looking after your safety this semester

   As the new semester begins it’s important to know the ways you can stay safe around campus and the city.

9. Improving PGT student identity and their experience through understanding their expectations on entry – the findings from an 11 University HEFCE funded project

   The seminar will provide an opportunity for exploration through some of the findings from the HEFCE funded project.

10. Sport science students make an impact with nearly 15,000 hours of placements

    From community sports clubs that support people with special educational needs to premier league football clubs, 173 students have undertaken 14,730 hours of work-based placements this academic year.
