1. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

   LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.

2. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

3. CBD use in rugby high as players seek to soothe pain

   A new study from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) highlights the high prevalence of cannabidiol (CBD) use among professional rugby players despite warnings it could lead to drugs bans.

4. Training materials now available on Canvas for CourseLoop

   The CourseLoop Canvas resource has short video guides on how to get started in addition to information if you require additional help and support.

5. Support for LJMU staff during exam season

   As the exam period gets underway, we understand it can be a stressful time for students but also for our staff, so were reminding everyone of the free 24/7 support services available at LJMU.

   The Leadership and Development Foundation is undergoing some changes to better support all staff development across the whole of LJMU.

7. Diwali 2019 starts on Sunday 27th October and lasts for five days

   Diwali is the famous festival of lights, when families and friends get together to feast and celebrate. The five day festival begins on Sunday 27th October 2019; each day has its own individual meaning and associated celebration. The third day of Diwali is regarded as the most important day. Diwali literally means a ‘row of Lights’. It is a celebration of light! It is a time filled with light and love. The festival does not follow the Gregorian but rather the Hindu calendar known as ‘Tithi,’ which is a lunar calendar. We would like to wish all our students and staff community who celebrate this festival a very happy Diwali!

8. LJMU joins BBC scheme to boost female representation in the media

   Liverpool John Moores University has teamed up with the BBC to improve gender representation in UK broadcasting.

9. Liverpool FC Women rise to the top with an assist from LJMU

   Liverpool FC Women clinched the title of the FA Women's Championship and promotion earlier this month, thanks in part to the help of backroom sport science experts from LJMU.

    One of Britain's leading figures in police leadership has joined Liverpool John Moores University as an adjunct Professor.
