1. International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) - 3rd December 2019

   1981 was designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Disabled People and since then, 3rd December has been marked as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day aims to promote a better understanding of disability issues with a focus on the rights of disabled people and the gains derived from their integration into every aspect of the political, social, economic and cultural life of our communities.

2. Sir Bert Massie CBE DL (1949-2017)

   It is with great sadness that the University announces the death of Sir Bert Massie CBE DL .

3. Graduation review Wednesday 11 July

   Wednesday saw the School of Sport Studies, Leisure and Nutrition graduate in the morning and the Public Health Institute and the School of Education in the afternoon ceremony.

4. Honorary Fellow Jane Cordell

   Liverpool John Moores University awards Honorary Fellowship to Jane Cordell at Liverpool Cathedral on Wednesday 11 July 2018.

5. Training for managers: disabilities and long-term health conditions, including mental health

   LJMU’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team, are proud to be working in partnership with coaching and training specialists; Result CIC (Community Interest Company) and are pleased to offer LJMU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors (those directly responsible for staff/students) the opportunity to participate in a half day Training for Managers of Staff with Disabilities & Long-Term Health Conditions Including Mental Health, workshop.

6. Review supports potential benefit of online pain management

   Cochrane review of 32 studies of online cognitive behaviour therapy by Dr Ben Rosser and experts in Bath and Oxford

7. Rio's goal to remove barriers surrounding disabilities within sport

   Second Year Sport Business student, Rio Boothe, is partnering with charities in the North West to raise awareness around the barriers surrounding disabilities and para sport.

9. Nine funded projects combat discrimination and inequality

   The impact made by nine research projects led by LJMU staff has been celebrated at an event on campus.

10. Graduate and Placement Jobs Fair

    The Graduate and Placement Jobs Fair takes place on Wednesday 18 October at the Student Life Building, 12-3pm. It will feature 60+ organisations from a range of sectors looking to hire students from across all courses and disciplines. If you have a disability, health condition or are neurodivergent and find busy fairs can be overwhelming, join us from 11am for our accessibility hour.
