1. Roscoe Lecture Series returns in our bicentenary year

   We are delighted to confirm the return of our ever-popular Roscoe Lecture Series, in this our special bicentenary year. There will be three Roscoe lectures in 2023 in March, May and October.

2. Four LJMU students share their Discovery Internships

   Meet Muhammad, Becky, Charlotte, and Justin, LJMU students who share their Discovery Internship story, where they balanced study and hands-on experience.

3. Schoolchildren train with sport scientists through LFC Foundation partnership

   The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences welcomed 10 young people from the LFC Foundation to its Performance Sport Unit during the Easter holidays to learn more about the science behind football.

4. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

5. World Book Day 2024: Reading Rivers

   Final-year creative writing student Kayla Marsh sat down with seven members of staff to discuss their ‘Reading Rivers’ – from the books never finished to the books that evoked tears.

7. Suicide prevention trial is first for schools in England

   NIHR funded trial in partnership with schools and parents to encourage struggling children to seek help

8. First Step Spring Internships available for Level 4 students

   A new pilot internship programme for first year students (level 4 only) with little to no previous work experience launched on Monday 15 January and close at midnight on Sunday 4 February. There will be no interview process for these opportunities, the Student Futures team will undertake a matching process between participating organisations and students. The internships will begin on Monday 4 March (start dates may vary for each role).

9. Researcher gains national coverage for work on human trafficking

   LJMU’s Dr Daniel Silverstone, Director of Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies, has delivered a series of national media interviews related to his research on human trafficking.
