1. Scheme helps LJMU employ more local people of colour

   A new scheme, Positive Action Training (PAT), helping local people of colour enter employment at LJMU has been launched by the Vice-Chancellor (interim).

2. Mind the GaP!

   Time is rapidly running out for Principal Investigators to be trained on the new Grants and Projects (GaP) system. It has been agreed by the University that any bids for external funding (research and enterprise activity) from April 2020 will need to be set up by the Principal Investigator on the GaP system, so its important that you book onto training ASAP.

3. New Scientist backs LJMU 'big idea'

   A LJMU ‘big idea’ has been selected as one of the most innovative of the year by New Scientist.

4. Women in football celebrated at inaugural LJMU networking event

   On Wednesday 15 June, LJMU celebrated the work of women in football at the inaugural meeting of the Football Exchange Women's Network (FExWN). The event brought together network members, delegates and industry speakers to celebrate their contributions to the sport and to challenge the realms of what is considered possible.

5. In memoriam: Dr Jo Croft

   Dr Jo Croft, senior lecturer in English, died of cancer on 15 January. She was a dearly-loved colleague and teacher at LJMU for nearly 28 years.

6. Training: Supporting students from Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showmen and Boater communities

   LJMU has long prided itself on offering access to higher education to under-represented sections of our community.

7. Estranged Students Solidarity Week

   Monday 25th - Friday 29th November is Estranged Students Solidarity Week, a national campaign to raise awareness of the issues affecting students who are studying in higher education without the support of a family network.

8. Making space for women to thrive in astrophysics

   More than 100 schoolgirls heard from LJMU astrophysicists during a special British Science Week event that celebrated the contribution of women in STEM.

9. Laura Bishop at helm as PVC for Science

   Professor Laura Bishop has joined LJMU as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Science.

10. School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences launches Athena Swan Action Plan
