1. Nearly £3k raised in first week of NSS

   A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us to raise a fantastic £2,950 for charity by completing the National Student Survey (NSS) in the first week.

2. Introducing eco-friendly search engine Ecosia

   In support of JMSUs Sustainability Week taking place from next Monday, 3 February, the university will be trialling a new eco-friendly default internet search engine.

3. Restrictions on using USBs for students and staff

   From 4 September students will be no longer able to use USB storage devices on LJMU equipment. This is alongside the restrictions already in place for staff.

4. New Academic Achievement teaching resources

   Each of these resources is a standalone academic skills class accompanied by a full lesson plan with teaching notes.

5. Roscoe Lecture: The Truth That Lies Behind Roscoe

   The final Roscoe Lecture of LJMU’s Bicentenary year was met with a rousing standing ovation at St George’s Hall.

6. New Associate Deans for Diversity and Inclusion appointed

   LJMU has appointed six Associate Deans for Diversity and Inclusion (ADDI), representing each of the five faculties and professional services, to support the university in driving forward the diversity and inclusion agenda.

7. April is Autism Acceptance Month

   Bethany Donaghy, PhD student at LJMU, shares her personal experience with autism, describes common misconceptions, and talks about diagnosis and support.

8. Pandemics and public health: have we found our new normal? - Conan Leavey and Graeme Mitchell, Public Health Institute, LJMU

   It was only a relatively short time ago - in March this year - that the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 a pandemic. We know now that it is likely to be many, many months before the UK pronounces its outbreak over; and certainly years before it is over globally.

9. Simply the best!

   LJMU has secured an exceptional outcome in its recent Higher Education Review by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), becoming the first university to receive two commended judgements.
