2. Menopause cafes throughout 2024

   This year we will once again host four menopause cafes for our staff, with the first taking place on Tuesday 16 January, and anyone wishing to attend can book via the staff wellbeing events page.

3. Professorship and Readership Conferment: Call for submissions

   Each year applications are invited for the conferment of Professorships and Readerships and the process for 2020 is now open.

5. New facilities now open at Avril Robarts Library

   Two newly-refurbished floors of Avril Robarts Library are now open!

6. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

7. Undergraduate students secure a place on the Football Association Women’s Leadership Programme

   Find out more about Ellie Burrows and Lizzie Craven have been successful in securing a place on the 2020 intake for the FA University Women’s Leadership Programme.

8. New Reading List Management System Launched.

   In January 2015 Library Services piloted the use of a reading list management system, Rebus:List with 27 academics across the University with a soft launch that Summer.

9. Discovery Internships for level 5 and 6 students open for applications

   The second round of paid Discovery Internships this semester are open until midnight on Sunday 17 December 2023. Interviews will take place before the end of January 2024 and the internships will begin from early February 2024 (start dates may vary for each role).

10. Special Collections and Archives on the BBC

    The Library's 19th century periodicals collection will be featured in an episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip on Thursday 24th January. Presenter Martel Maxwell and expert James Braxton talked to Professor Brian Maidment before heading over to the School of Art & Design to be sketched by two graphic design students.
