1. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

2. Great apes predicted to lose 90% of African homelands, study finds

   A triple-whammy of climate change, land-use change and human population growth is set to decimate the habitats of Africas great apes gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos over the coming 30 years.

3. Climate change ‘opened and closed’ migratory door through Arabia for 400,000 years

   One of the driest places on Earth has intermittently been a 'green corridor' for human migration due to historical periods of increased rainfall, according to new research.

4. Support for care experienced students to be enhanced beyond graduation

   A £50,000 donation will be used to help end the ‘care cliff’ for LJMU students as they finish their studies.

5. Researchers prove herbivore mammals do have bigger bellies

   Dr Carlo Meloro from Liverpool John Moores University, with a team of European scientists, has investigated the volumes of body cavities in a large range of extant and fossil tetrapods and found that plant feeding animals have bigger bellies than their carnivore counterparts.

6. Respect Always Coffee and Catch Ups this November

   Do you feel respected within LJMU? All staff are invited to Respect Always 'Coffee and Catch Ups' throughout November to tell us your thoughts. Refreshments will also be provided.

7. Menopause matters celebration and future initiatives

   An update on the work happening at LJMU to better support staff going through the menopause.

8. LJMU donates £10,000 to local charity

   LJMU has donated £10,000 to a local charity on the back of the National Student Survey (NSS) 2022.

9. Graduate and Placement Recruitment Fair – 10 March, 12-3pm, Student Life Building

   Students from any programme or level of study are invited to attend this fair to meet and network with 50+ employers offering internships, placements and graduate roles.

    LJMU’s School of Nursing and Advanced Practice is celebrating the achievements of its students, staff and practice partners. The school has this week hosted its annual awards event for 2024, with 11 worthy winners being honoured.
