1. LJMU developing climate institute

   LJMU is developing proposals to launch our own climate institute and we want to involve staff who can help it make an impact.

2. Grants and Projects Update

   New Grants and Projects (GaP) software which provides LJMU with a collaborative creative environment for anyone applying for external funding and professional services to work together on bid and project proposals.

3. Student nurses train in the community in new Mersey Care partnership

   Ten trainee nurses will work alongside district and community nurses over the next year as part of a new internship scheme aimed at supporting direct career pathways into the community health sector.

4. Free winter flu jabs for staff

   As part of our employee wellbeing focus, we are again offering staff a voucher for a free winter flu jab.

5. Staff leadership course: apply for CPD accredited Calibre Programme

   Open to staff who identify as neurodiverse, deaf or disabled, or who have a long-term physical or mental health condition

6. Apply for a paid discovery internship

   LJMU is offering second and final year students (level 5 and 6) the opportunity to apply for a paid 'Discovery Internship' working with a local organisation in the Liverpool City Region on a real-life project that you can really get stuck into.

7. School of Biological & Environmental Sciences accredited with Athena SWAN Bronze Award

   Biological and Environmental Sciences has become the fifth LJMU school to have received the Athena SWAN Bronze Award.

8. Call for proposals for British Science Festival

   LJMU researchers are invited to submit your proposals for the British Science Festival 2025.

9. Mike Leigh provides memorable experience

   Liverpool Screen School was delighted to welcome award winning writer and director Mike Leigh for a screening and In Conversation event at Redmonds Building.    

10. First Step Spring Internships available for Level 4 students

    A new pilot internship programme for first year students (level 4 only) with little to no previous work experience launched on Monday 15 January and close at midnight on Sunday 4 February. There will be no interview process for these opportunities, the Student Futures team will undertake a matching process between participating organisations and students. The internships will begin on Monday 4 March (start dates may vary for each role).
