1. 'Americana' Catherine selected for Filmadrid

   Film-maker Catherine Norton's new film is the only UK video-essay selected for Madrid film festival.

2. Future Fortnight: 28 February to 11 March – open to all students

3. nursing and advanced practice awards

   LJMU’s School of Nursing and Advanced Practice is celebrating the achievements of its students, staff and practice partners. The school has this week hosted its annual awards event for 2024, with 11 worthy winners being honoured.

4. Women in football celebrated at inaugural LJMU networking event

   On Wednesday 15 June, LJMU celebrated the work of women in football at the inaugural meeting of the Football Exchange Women's Network (FExWN). The event brought together network members, delegates and industry speakers to celebrate their contributions to the sport and to challenge the realms of what is considered possible.

   Evolutionary biologists Dr Laura Buck and Dr Kyoko Yamaguchi write in The Conversation on how human species (hominins) have coped with cold climates over the millennia.

7. The Conversation: Prison Food: what we learned from food-themed art workshops for women prisoners

   Erin Power, Research Fellow in Sociology and her collaborators discover how food impacts on identity, motivation and empowerment in women's prisons.

8. Ethnically diverse and Ethnic minority to substitute the BAME Acronym across LJMU

   Following a university wide survey and subsequent focus groups, ethnically diverse or ethnic minority are to replace the use of BAME across the university.

9. Lecturer’s new book examines security at sports mega-events amid the pandemic

   International Relations and Politics with Sociology Lecturer, Dr Jan Ludvigsen, shared insights from his book this week with the LJMU community ahead of its release on Friday 8 April.

10. Graduate and Placement Jobs Fair

    The Graduate and Placement Jobs Fair takes place on Wednesday 18 October at the Student Life Building, 12-3pm. It will feature 60+ organisations from a range of sectors looking to hire students from across all courses and disciplines. If you have a disability, health condition or are neurodivergent and find busy fairs can be overwhelming, join us from 11am for our accessibility hour.
