1. Family judge for Cheshire and Merseyside hosts first LAC public debate event

   Her Honour Judge Margaret de Haas QC hosted the first public debate held by LJMU’s Legal Advice Centre, which focused on the legal rights of grandparents.

2. LJMU joins Higher Education, Transnational Education (TNE) mission to Vietnam and Cambodia

   During the mission, LJMU were able to showcase their University offerings, meet with the UK Ambassador to Vietnam, Gareth Ward, and hold business to business meetings to ignite discussions surrounding the development of transnational education opportunities.

6. Drama and film producer Colin McKeown awarded honorary professor title by LJMU

   In recognition of his services to education and his enduring support of the university’s media production, film, journalism, drama and creative writing students.

7. Sport and Exercise Science education adds £3.9 billion income to the UK economy

   Results of a new report show that Sport and Exercise Science courses added £3.9 billion in income to the UK economy, with average salaries for SES graduates after six months of employment at £21,100 per annum. Over the course of their careers, SES graduates earn on average £667,000 more compared to their non-graduate peers.

8. New human evolution gallery at the World Museum Liverpool opened with a bang!

   Discover the intertwined history of our species. A new free gallery officially opened at the World Museum Liverpool on 6th September 2019. The opening was marked by a family event: Human Evolution Festival, but the gallery is now open to the public and an activity trail will be available soon. Where do we come from? What makes us human? These fundamental mysteries have shaped the study of human origins for centuries. Trace our species’ evolution from the first upright primate through to modern humans.

9. New way to request visitor parking and out of hours or security access

   Campus Support (Security) now has a number of staff request forms available via the LJMU HelpMe portal, to help with the management of requests.

10. UN Report Warns Borneo’s Orangutans Face Severe Threats from Land Cover and Climate Change

    Over 80 percent of the orangutan’s remaining habitat in Borneo could be lost by the year 2080 if the island’s current land-use policies remain intact.
