1. Your new Academic Board members

   Following the call for nominations for five vacancies on our Academic Board, the Secretariat is pleased to announce that they have filled the positions.

2. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

   The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

3. 'Most Inspirational Student Nurse of the Year' awarded to LJMU's John Wells

   Third year Adult Nursing student, John Wells, has picked up the ‘Most Inspirational Student Nurse of the Year’ award at the Student Nursing Times Awards 2023.

4. Climate Emergency: Active Travel Plan to incentivise cycling and walking

   Incentives for staff and students to travel sustainably are being put on the table to back the university's newly-approved Active and Sustainable Travel Plan.

5. Meet our Associate Deans Global Engagement

   LJMU has appointed five senior academics to act as international 'ambassadors' for each of our five faculties.

6. ICC to research civic engagement and impact of arts organisations

   The Institute for Cultural Capital (ICC), a collaboration between LJMU and the University of Liverpool, is conducting research to establish the role arts organisations play in their communities and nationally.

7. Restrictions on using USBs for students and staff

   From 4 September students will be no longer able to use USB storage devices on LJMU equipment. This is alongside the restrictions already in place for staff.

8. Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls 2022

   Our LJMU Equality team explains why the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls is important, and the support available here at LJMU.

9. Celebrating a decade of sport science internships with Everton Football Club

   As many as 60 graduates from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences have secured roles at professional football clubs in England and overseas over the past decade thanks to an internship scheme with Everton Football Club.

10. Liverpool FC Women rise to the top with an assist from LJMU

    Liverpool FC Women clinched the title of the FA Women's Championship and promotion earlier this month, thanks in part to the help of backroom sport science experts from LJMU.
