   As the assessment period draws to a close, for most of our students this month and teaching finishes for the academic year, here are four ways to spend your summer.

2. Students and residents tackle obesity with community cookbook

   Residents from Kirkby in Knowsley and LJMU Nutrition students have created a brand-new cookbook with a Mediterranean-inspired diet to help try and curb the issue of obesity and its associated health risks, such as fatty liver disease

3. Breaking Ground

   ‘Breaking Ground’ saw internationally-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind discuss the inspiration behind some of the world’s most iconic buildings, including the reconstruction of the World Trade Center, the Jewish Museum in Berlin and Manchester’s Imperial War Museum.

4. Archbishop of Canterbury receives Honorary Fellowship and delivers Roscoe Lecture

   The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby received an LJMU Honorary Fellowship and also delivered one of the University's acclaimed Roscoe Lectures at St George’s Hall.

5. LJMU collaborates with Liverpool Law Society

   LJMU Law students are being offered career and networking opportunities from Liverpool Law Society (the society that represents all lawyers from the Liverpool City Region) due to a new collaboration between the two organisations.

6. One of only eight universities to secure prestigious international funding

   LJMU has been awarded approximately £490,000 from Research England’s first ever International Investment Initiative (I3). The award has been jointly made to LJMU and The University of Western Australia (UWA) for the international collaboration project, i-CARDIO. The project has a dual focus; the first component is the delivery of workshops to develop innovative ways to detect cardiovascular diseases for preventative intervention using imaging techniques. The second element is the evaluation of Australia’s model of accreditation of clinical exercise scientists and physiologists. The accreditation incorporates university and work place-based learning to enable graduates to secure roles in the healthcare system as recognised allied health professionals.

8. Bicentenary Artist in Residence the year so far

   Julia Midgley has sketched the return of our Roscoe Lecture Series, graduation and art and drama students' work.

9. Media Production student Lilly wins British Citizen Youth Award

   Lilly Crisp, a second-year media production (BA) student has won a British Citizen Youth Award (BCyA) at a ceremony in Westminster thanks to her multiple volunteering roles since the age of 14.

10. LJMU partners with four charities making a difference in the region

    Claire House Children’s Hospice, The Girls’ Network, Local Solutions and Micah Liverpool are the university’s new charity partners.
