1. Ethnically diverse and Ethnic minority to substitute the BAME Acronym across LJMU

   Following a university wide survey and subsequent focus groups, ethnically diverse or ethnic minority are to replace the use of BAME across the university.

2. Our LJMU community celebrating Ramadan

   Ramadan begins on 2 April and our LJMU Equality team is sharing the support available for those celebrating plus their advice on how our LJMU community can help students and staff who may be fasting.

3. Spring graduation 2024

   This April, LJMU celebrated the achievements of 2,678 students who graduated across eight ceremonies at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

4. Art and research project with FACT and those affected by the UK justice system unveiled

   Dr Emma Murray, Reader in Military Veteran Studies at LJMU and Criminologist-in-Residence at FACT has been a long-term collaborator on the project.

5. LJMU to co-host British Science Festival 2025

   LJMU is to co-host the British Science Festival in the city in 2025.

6. March is Library Fest

   Library Services are gearing up for an exciting lineup of events this March as part of Library Fest 2024. There’ll be a range of exciting activities taking place from book swaps to poetry readings, exhibitions, and giveaways for all students, staff and visitors to get involved in.

7. Galaxies are cosmic cauldrons heated by star formation

   Astronomers show that stars form rapidly and drive interstellar gas bubbles throughout galaxies.

8. World Mental Health Day 2019

   World Mental Health Day on October the 10th is the annual global celebration of mental health education, awareness and advocacy. Throughout the week starting Monday 7th– Friday 11th October LJMU Student Advice and Wellbeing Services will be delivering a range of activities and raising awareness to celebrate good mental health and encourage us all to look at what we can do to maintain and promote positive wellbeing.

9. UK’s first dedicated housebuilding degree

   LJMU’s Department of Built Environment, in partnership with Redrow and Coleg Cambria, have established the UK’s first dedicated Housebuilding Degree.

10. School of Sport and Exercise Sciences celebrates long standing partnership with Everton

    Staff and students past and present gathered at Goodison Park as Everton's Academy Sport Science department hosted an event to celebrate an internship programme run in partnership with The Football Exchange, part of the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University.
