3. Apprenticeships and Student Governance policy updates

   The new Apprenticeships Policy has received Academic Board approval and 20 Student Governance policies, guidance and pro forma have recently been reviewed, and have received minor amendments.

4. LJMU students help refugees at the Polish/Ukrainian border

   MA Wildlife Conservation students Vanessa Grundy, 27 and Alex Donnelly, 27 along with Vanessa's brother Mike Grundy are currently at the Poland-Ukraine border helping refugees get to safe accommodation in Krakow, and further across Europe, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

6. UK’s first dedicated housebuilding degree

   LJMU’s Department of Built Environment, in partnership with Redrow and Coleg Cambria, have established the UK’s first dedicated Housebuilding Degree.

7. Researchers prove herbivore mammals do have bigger bellies

   Dr Carlo Meloro from Liverpool John Moores University, with a team of European scientists, has investigated the volumes of body cavities in a large range of extant and fossil tetrapods and found that plant feeding animals have bigger bellies than their carnivore counterparts.

8. Sport science knowledge exchange with former PhD student

   LJMU’s School of Sport and Exercise Sciences recently welcomed former PhD student Dr Niels Feddersen on to campus for a research and knowledge exchange visit.

9. Prestigious Bollywood Director hosts Liverpool film screening with LJMU

   Bollywood Director, Ms Kiran Rao hosted a special screening of recent hit move Laapataa Ladies (2024) in Liverpool with LJMU.

10. Health, safety and environmental management code of practice updates

    The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) has recently approved a new health and safety code of practice as well as amendments to a further 11 policies.
