1. Health and Safety policy updates

   A number of Health and Safety policies have been amended and approved by the Health and Safety Committee.

2. Updated Assessment and Feedback Policy

   The policy has been updated with two new areas of activity on internal moderation and the use of generative AI (GenAI) in assessment.

3. Fab Lab Liverpool creates board games to support LJMU research

   Fab Lab were commissioned by LJMU’s Research and Innovation Services to support two different projects, one to help students develop their research proposals and one that shines a light on the probation service.

4. Astronomers catch Tatooine multiple star system as it forms

   For the first time astronomers, including Dr Richard Parker, of the Astrophysics Research Institute at LJMU, have caught a multiple-star system as it is created, and their observations are providing new insight into how such systems, and possibly the solar system, are formed. The amazing images taken from a series of telescopes on Earth show clouds of gas which are in the process of developing into stars.

5. Staff Qualifications and Health and Safety policy updates

   A number of LJMU staff policies have been updated.

6. LJMU wins net zero carbon award

   LJMU has won a national energy and sustainability award for its work to cut carbon emissions.

7. Kind staff and students support Whitechapel Centre Christmas appeal

   Warm clothes, selection boxes, toiletry sets and Christmas foods were among the items collected and donated by staff and students.

8. A world class maritime workforce

   Liverpool John Moores University is spearheading innovation in the UK’s maritime industry with the launch of a unique maritime graduate talent programme alongside the official opening of one of the most advanced Maritime Bridge and Engine Simulator training facilities in Europe.

9. Aiding entrepreneurs in North Africa and the Middle-East

   $250,000 grant to Liverpool Business School to create new data for growth and jobs in MENA countries

10. Changes to the Leadership and Development Foundation

    The Leadership and Development Foundation is undergoing some changes to better support all staff development across the whole of LJMU.
