1. Health, safety and environmental management code of practice updates

   The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) has recently approved a new health and safety code of practice as well as amendments to a further 11 policies.

   World will have more obese children and adolescents than underweight by 2022

4. One of only eight universities to secure prestigious international funding

   LJMU has been awarded approximately £490,000 from Research England’s first ever International Investment Initiative (I3). The award has been jointly made to LJMU and The University of Western Australia (UWA) for the international collaboration project, i-CARDIO. The project has a dual focus; the first component is the delivery of workshops to develop innovative ways to detect cardiovascular diseases for preventative intervention using imaging techniques. The second element is the evaluation of Australia’s model of accreditation of clinical exercise scientists and physiologists. The accreditation incorporates university and work place-based learning to enable graduates to secure roles in the healthcare system as recognised allied health professionals.

5. Student Life and Sports Building win Best New Build Project award

   LJMU’s Copperas Hill development has won an award for the Best New Build Project at the Merseyside Civic Design Awards.

6. Data protection related policy updates

   Four data protection related policies have been updated and can now be found on the LJMU Policy Centre.

7. Pint of Science Festival comes to Liverpool

   Lecturers from across LJMU will be sharing their research as part of the Pint of Science Festival Programme this May.

8. Honorary Fellowship: Sir Peter Bazalgette

   Liverpool John Moores University awards Honorary Fellowship to Sir Peter Bazalgette at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday 25 July 2016.

9. Prestigious Screen School appointments

   Two Liverpool Screen School academics, Dr Rex Li and Andrew McMillan have been appointed to the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Peer Review College.
