1. Exciting development opportunity for women to undertake action learning with peers from North West universities

   We are pleased to offer this development opportunity for up to 15 women working in academic and professional services roles to take part in cross institutional action learning sets with peers from universities in the North West region. Action learning provides a unique space for women to support each other to overcome work and career related challenges. This opportunity has been taken up previously by 150 women. Participant feedback includes: it was not role specific, so there were a range of individuals with different roles/skills/perspective which enriched my experience and It provided a rare opportunity to discuss issues confidentially outside of ones own workplace which helped me to develop more self-confidence and self-awareness.

2. VC PhD Studentship Awards and Thematic Doctoral Programme Awards 2023/24

   LJMU has awarded 21 VC PhD Studentship awards to exceptional students at the university.

3. Top ranking for entrepreneurial university

   LJMU ranked in top 20 UK universities for graduate business start-ups

4. Lecturer's theatre show opens

   A production by an LJMU lecturer, based on the lived experiences of children who have a parent in prison, opens in theatres this month.

5. Graduation review Wednesday 11 July

   Wednesday saw the School of Sport Studies, Leisure and Nutrition graduate in the morning and the Public Health Institute and the School of Education in the afternoon ceremony.

6. Climate institute planning under way

   Colleagues from the across the university have this week come together to begin scoping out the proposed new LJMU climate institute.

7. Royal Photographic Society award for Professor Wilkinson

   Professor Caroline Wilkinson, Director of LJMU’s School of Art and Design, has received a prestigious award from the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).

8. Professor Greg Whyte supports Jo Brand with her Sport Relief challenge

   Professor of Applied Sport and Exercise Science, Greg Whyte OBE, accompanied Jo Brand on her ‘Hell of a Walk’.

9. Launch of MSc Emergency Care module

   The universitys new and innovative MSc Emergency Care module has been well received, with more than 200 stakeholders, leaders and healthcare professionals attending the launch symposium.

10. Your new Staff Governor Emily Walker

    Following a fortnight-long election period, Emily received the majority of votes out of the five self-nominated candidates to represent Professional Services, and will now serve on the Board for the next three years.
