1. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

2. Improving PGT student identity and their experience through understanding their expectations on entry – the findings from an 11 University HEFCE funded project

   The seminar will provide an opportunity for exploration through some of the findings from the HEFCE funded project.

3. Scientists from the Astrophysics Research Institute showcase their latest simulations of the universe at event

   Astrophysicists from LJMU showcased their latest simulations at Daresbury Laboratory Open Week.

4. Academics support project to protect sex workers from violence

   LJMU is set to be part of a ground-breaking Merseyside partnership that protects sex workers from violence.

5. Family judge for Cheshire and Merseyside hosts first LAC public debate event

   Her Honour Judge Margaret de Haas QC hosted the first public debate held by LJMU’s Legal Advice Centre, which focused on the legal rights of grandparents.

6. First Roscoe Lecture of the Bicentenary year given to hundreds at St George's Hall

   An audience of hundreds gave a rapturous response to the first Roscoe Lecture of LJMU's Bicentenary year, delivered by Professor Andy Newsam

7. 'Reclaiming narratives' for Black History Month 2024

   As we mark Black History Month in the UK this October, our Associate Director for Diversity and Inclusion, Moni Akinsanya, shares her thoughts on celebrating this year’s theme while reflecting on recent events over the summer months.

   Our next staff open day at the Student Life Building takes place on Wednesday 24 November, with networking opportunities, a chance to find out more about the building and its services, plus a free lunch.
