    At LJMU, we’re making efforts to address our water usage by installing efficient water dispensers, harvesting rainwater and using low-flush toilets in our buildings across campuses. Locally, we are promoting sustainable energy on Hilbre Island and internationally we are proud to champion the voices of islanders in the Philippines through documentaries shared at the United Nations World Ocean’s Day.

  3. Targeted opportunities for disabled individuals

    Many large employers are becoming more proactive to recruit candidates with disabilities, neurodiversity and long-term health conditions. Some run their own schemes targeting disabled applicants, while others work with specialist organisations that manage the recruitment process on their behalf.

  5. Dr Áine Mac Dermott

    Áine won the Individual Teaching Excellence Award at our Teaching Excellence Awards held in our Bicentenary year, recognising how she has provided amazing real-world learning experiences for students across the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, all while being an active supporter of women in STEM.

  6. Joanne Brunnen

    Jo is a finance officer and in 2023 celebrated 35 years of working for LJMU. She’s worked across many different departments during her career, and as the university has evolved. During more than three decades of dedicated work, Jo has made lasting friendships along the way and even met her husband here too.

  7. Lol Baker

    Lol is a support officer for our School of Art and Design with a lead role in running the Fab Lab, our digital fabrication laboratory that sees students, staff and partners using technology to make almost anything. He is a champion of supporting creative talent in Liverpool and uses his knowledge to nurture our students’ skills and to work with creative partners across the city.

    Patricia, from our Liverpool Business School, has played an important role in establishing routes into higher education for members of the Roma community in Liverpool.

    Sports development alum Molly McCann, better known as ‘Meatball Molly’, is an inspiring scouse figure in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). She is supported by experts in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences to remain on top form as she competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
