   A mini-conference highlighting developments in decolonial approaches to teaching and research across the university featuring three sessions of talks and discussion on decolonising pedagogy, assessment and research methods, will take place in November.

6. LJMU leads partnership with technology hub to support and innovate region’s businesses

   LJMU received a £2m government grant to help SMEs, and has used the funding to partner with the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) to help transform regional industry through the use of a new Business Launch Centre (MTC@LJMU) based at LJMU’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

   A new Public Health Institute has been established at Liverpool John Moores University to respond to the varied and complex public health issues of the 21st Century.

8. Liverpool announced as one of the cheapest cities for students to live

   According to new research, on behalf of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Portsmouth, Liverpool and Newcastle respectively all landed in the top three in the Student Living Index. The research takes into account the everyday cost of living and accommodation costs.

9. World-class status for Sport and Exercise Sciences in new academic ranking

   Liverpool John Moores University’s School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has been named the 6th best department in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for the Sports Sciences subject area, highlighting the School’s global research influence. The results also show the School ranked as the 2nd best department in the UK and the 3rd best in Europe.

10. Cutting edge performance analysis technology on the curriculum for sport science students

    A new education partnership with Catapult Sports is ensuring that students have the skills and experience needed to excel as professional coaches and sports scientists.
