5. LJMU signs up to the University Mental Health Charter

   Over 60 universities across the country have signed up to be part of the Student Minds’ University Mental Health Charter Framework to support universities across the UK in making mental health a university-wide priority.

6. Eight students compete in Archon University Fitness League

   Eight LJMU students took part in an Archon Fittest Universities Event in Birmingham earlier this month, with student Jordan McCarthy placing first across the leaderboard in the STRONG category.

7. Smart meter data could help identify dementia

   Energy use patterns from smart meter data could be used to help identify whether people are suffering from conditions such as dementia and depression, computer scientists have shown.

8. Students gain insight into world of international boxing

   Students from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Liverpool Screen School and Liverpool Business School gained real-world insight into professional boxing and PR with a campus visit from worldwide boxing promoters Matchroom and boxer Peter McGrail.

9. Applications open for Research England Policy Support Fund

   LJMU is being allocated funding from the Research England Policy Support Fund (PSF) to support the development of impactful research and engagement activities. Applications of up to £10,000 will be considered and applicants have until 5pm on Monday 10 October 2022 to make a submission.

10. LJMU scientists part of semi-finalist team in $10 million global rainforest competition
