1. LGBT History Month: Dr Lindsey Gaston reflects

   As February marks LGBT History Month, the LJMU Diversity and Inclusion Team caught up with Dr Lindsey Gaston, Liverpool Business School Senior Lecturer. Here he reflects on his own journey and experience.

   A newly published study in PLOS genetics led by School of Biology and Environmental Sciences experts Dr Adeline Morez, Prof Joel D. Irish and Dr Linus Girdland Flink is helping to shed new light on the origins of Scotland’s Picts.

3. Expertise in design and technology education shared at international UNESCO event

   Dr Matt McLain from the School of Education attended the event in Shenzhen, China.

4. LJMU and Unite Students host inaugural 'Living Black at University' symposium

   A 'research into action symposium' has been held at LJMU. The event, organised by LJMU Associate Deans: Diversity and Inclusion, explored and shared the experiences of Black students at university and discussed how to turn the research into positive action.

5. Staff networks explored, explained and celebrated

   Staff recently came together to celebrate the power of staff networks in the workplace and to mark the launch of the Admin and PA Staff Network.

6. Add the pronunciation of your name to your email signature

   NameCoach software has been integrated with LJMU systems to help users add name pronunciations at the bottom of email signatures.

7. Disability and neurodiversity equity: next steps at LJMU

   In recognition of Disability History Month (14 November to 20 December) and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, we’re reflecting on our progress over the past 24 months to support staff and students with a disability/ who are neurodiverse and outlining our next steps to advance disability equity.

8. Addressing gender imbalance within higher education

   For the fourth lecture in LJMU's Athena Lecture Series, three speakers from STEMM and non STEMM backgrounds presented to a packed lecture theatre comprising academics, students, professionals and Year 9 pupils from four local schools.

9. Harnessing the power of staff networks

   Save the date for the launch of our latest group, the PA and Admin Staff Network, on Thursday 8 February, featuring a guest talk from staff networks expert Cherron Inko-Tariah.

10. International curriculum handbook to enhance teaching of technology education

    Dr Matt McLain, a Senior Lecturer in Education and Professional Learning in the School of Education has co-edited the Bloomsbury Handbook of Technology Education, a forward thinking new text that brings together international perspectives to enhance technology teaching.
