Work and study
Balancing your studies and gaining experience
Most students have some form of paid employment while they are studying.
As a student you may be looking for work because you want to:
- supplement your income
- gain valuable work experience in a sector of interest
- improve your CV
- build a network of contacts
- develop skills and knowledge
- gain a sense of personal growth and fulfilment
Our job board can help you find graduate vacancies, sandwich/industrial placements, internships/summer work, part-time jobs, volunteering opportunities and work-based learning placements.
LJMU students and recent graduates have exclusive access to opportunities for flexible, part-time, paid work through Unitemps at Liverpool John Moores University - our very own on-campus recruitment agency.
As well as boosting your finances whilst you are studying, assignments strengthen LJMU students' CVs, their employability skills and their organisational awareness.
You can also work with Liverpool John Moores University Students' Union. JMSU employ current students and graduates to work in a wide range of roles.
Please be aware
Research has shown that if you’re a full-time student, a job that takes up over 20 hours per week can have a detrimental effect on your grades so when considering employment think about how you can create an optimal work/study balance.
