Official launch of Oryx Universal College in partnership with LJMU in the State of Qatar



We are delighted to announce the official launch of Oryx Universal College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University in the State of Qatar. The establishment of the College was approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar with a distinct set of programmes expected to deliver skills and knowledge that are in high demand in the Middle East region and other parts of the world. With a focus on delivering STEM skills and knowledge (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Oryx Universal College will commence enrolling students for 4 distinguished programmes that students can complete in Qatar including:

  • BSc (Hons) in Computer Science
  • BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering
  • BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying
  • MSc in Project Management

Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oryx Universal College, Dr. Homaid Almadfa affirms, the institution’s commitment to its mission “to enable the knowledge future through interactions between education, research and innovation, as the first private higher education institution in Qatar that focuses in STEM education”.

The preliminary approval was given to Oryx Universal College in 2018 by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education based on a comprehensive feasibility study carried out by KPMG, Qatar. By demonstrating progressive accomplishment of the conditions and requirements set by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education through their rigorous quality assurance and compliance framework, Oryx Universal College is now ready to enrol students for a 2020 intake.

An experienced team of faculty members led by Dr. Anthony Charles Auchterlounie (PhD) who brings a wealth of academic and professional experience in the UK and in Middle East has teamed up with the founders to shift the benchmarks that cover the higher education needs of the State of Qatar. Dr. Auchterlounie is a member of CIOB, CABE, RICS and a fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA). He will be the Dean of Academic Affairs at Oryx Universal College.
