Liverpool John Moores University LGBT+ History Month Event (2020)

LJMU’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team in collaboration with the LJMU Together (LGBTIQ+) Staff Network, are proud to present an opportunity for LJMU/JMSU Staff, Students and members of the local community to attend this year’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Plus (LGBT+) History Month Event (2020).

Every year since 2005, February is the UK’s dedicated month for celebrating LGBT+ history. This year's theme centres around “Poetry, Prose, Pride & Plays”. The aim of the month is to increase awareness and to educate against prejudice.

This year's event speakers will include:

 

  • Christian Owens - Founder of GenderSpace & Detective Sergeant in Merseyside Police
  • Clare Jasmine Beloved  - Artist, Poet, Storyteller & Social Entrepreneur, as well as Founder, Creative Director & CEO of Big Love Sista
  • Clare will be co-presenting with her wife Sandra Richardson - Poet, Founder of Shero Soul & Community Activist
  • Members of the LJMU LGBTIQ+ Research Hub
  • Members of the LJMU Together (LGBTIQ+) Staff Network
  • Members of John Moores Student Union (JMSU)

This event is open to all LJMU/JMSU staff and students, as well as members of the local community and High School/College level students.

There is also the opportunity for attendees (aged 18yrs+) to join a social occasion coordinated by Co-Chairs of the LJMU Together (LGBTIQ+) Staff Network, immediately after the event has taken place (3.30/4pm onwards) at Kitty’s Show-Bar on Tithebarn Street Liverpool.
