LJMU supporting our NHS
LJMU is proud to be supporting our NHS and making a contribution to the national effort against COVID-19.
We have donated a large amount of personal protective equipment and manufactured life-saving face shields for NHS staff.
Colleagues in our Faculty of Health sourced a wide range of equipment, including medical gloves, aprons, hand sanitiser, hand wash, sanitary wipes, examination gowns, disinfection wipes and sterile dressing aids.
They then arranged for the much-needed equipment to be transported to Whiston Hospital to be used by frontline NHS staff doing such a fantastic job caring for our communities.
Meanwhile, our Faculty of Engineering and Technology set up a ‘printing farm’ to manufacture 3D-printed face shields for the NHS, alongside Unilever, Vauxhall and the University of Liverpool.
Through this coordinated effort, LJMU is feeding more than 100 parts per day into the supply chain to Royal Liverpool University Hospital and other local hospitals.
We are proud to be able to support our NHS staff in their efforts to care for our communities during this extraordinary period.
