If you don’t know TV star Alex Brooker already, just watch Channel 4’s coverage of the Paralympic Games from today.

Over the next two weeks, the presenter will front up coverage and take us through the wonders of Paralympic sport and the amazing personalities behind it.

A graduate of Liverpool John Moores University - BA (Hons) Journalism, 2006 – Alex is best known as co-presenter on the award-winning TV show ‘The Last Leg’, an irreverent take on politics, news and sport and he has guested on Celebrity Juice, League of Their Own, 8 out of 10 Cats, and Would I Lie To You?

After graduating, he went to work for the Liverpool Echo before becoming a sports journalist at the Press Association.

Inspiration

In 2011, Alex appeared on screen for Channel 4, reporting in ‘That Paralympic Show’. He went on to be an athletics reporter in 2011, and then a football reporter in 2012 at the BT Paralympic World Cup.

As a role model and inspiration, particularly for those with disabilities – he was born with hand and arm disabilities and without a bone in his lower right leg - Alex was made an Honorary Fellow of LJMU in 2019.

Accepting the honour, he said: “Don’t be afraid of your disability. That’s who you are. It’s who I am. My hands are part of me – I can’t go into an interview with a pair of mittens on hoping they don’t notice! Be confident. You’ve got something that no one else has, I promise you.”
