New look and menu for LJMU catering outlets

LJMU is launching a brand new look and menu across all of our catering outlets.

Our Catering Service has been working closely with students to develop the new offer and ensure it reflects the university’s values.

All catering outlets will be branded as Core and replicate the look and feel of the popular Student Life Building café.

Following feedback from students and staff, the menu will feature a range of freshly prepared food and healthy options such as smoothies. Each Core outlet will serve coffee supplied either by a local provider or the popular Starbucks or Costa Coffee brands.

Students from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences have worked on the nutritional information for each item on the menu to help customers make informed choices.

All outlets will continue to take cashless payments only.

In order to carry out the refurbishment works, two of our catering outlets will temporarily close over the summer:

The Starbucks café in James Parsons Building at Byrom Street will close from Saturday 2 July and reopen as Core Café on Monday 8 August. During that period, customers can continue to use the neighbouring Social Zone Café.

Starbucks in Redmonds Building will close on Saturday 23 July and reopen as Core Café on Monday 22 August. Customers are asked to use the nearby Student Life Building café during that time.

Those works have been scheduled for the quietest period on campus and we appreciate your patience and support while the refurbishment is carried out. Works to our other outlets can be completed out of hours and won’t affect opening times.

Head of Catering, Peter Robinson, said: “We are really excited by these changes to our catering outlets across the estate. We are always keen to hear and act on feedback from our students and staff and I’m delighted that our new look and menu reflects what our customers want.

“Our catering outlets offer a quality menu at competitive prices, they operate in a sustainable and responsible manner and they are a fantastic way for the LJMU community to come together and socialise. Our team can’t wait to welcome you all to the new look Core cafes.”
