Paid opportunity to solve a real world issue



Part of the LJMU Student Futures team, LCR Founders is offering students from any programme or level of study the chance to apply for a three-day paid consultancy to solve a real-world issue presented by an external organisation.

There are two organisations taking part but you can only apply to join one of the Hackathons.  The roles are advertised on LJMU's Unitemps website, so you must register with Unitemps to apply if you are not already signed up. You will be paid a wage of £12.83 per hour, lunch will be provided and you must be available from 10am-4pm on each of the three days.

These exciting opportunities will enable you to utilise entrepreneurial tools, techniques, and expertise to assist in the presentation of solutions and recommendations for the organisations. Taking part will also look great on your CV and demonstrate you are able to work as part of a team to solve a real-world problem.

Mersey Travel Hackathon - 22, 24 & 26 May

Day 1 – 22 May

Mersey Travel is seeking to utilise the expertise and knowledge base of LJMU students to provide solutions and opportunities for the development of a piece of land they own within the Liverpool City Region. Mersey Travel will deliver a presentation regarding the asset and will be looking for a variety of solutions and suggestions on how they can best utilise this space.

Mersey Travel will give you the opportunity to visit the site in person, to help inspire your thoughts for how to best transform the space. You will also be able to network with all participants and work within teams to consider the impact that this transformation could have on the stakeholders, the environment & the community.

Day 2 - 24 May 2023

You will further develop your ideas, produce a plan and create a presentation ready to pitch your idea back to Mersey Travel.

Day 3 – 26 May 2023

Finally, you will deliver and present your pitch in your team to Mersey Travel and get feedback on your consultancy strategy.

My Social Sister Hackathon - 23, 25 & 30 May

Day 1 - 23 May 2023

My Social Sister is a modernistic wellness APP and community here to celebrate and support YOU in getting to know who you truly are with 0% Judgement 100% Support.  They will present an overview of their business and the services they provide. The company is looking to explore innovative and engaging ideas of how they can reach more women, grow their audience, and upscale their business.

Following this, you will network, work in teams and come up with solutions and a strategy to assist My Social Sister to grow their company and identify current and new opportunities, products, and delivery mechanisms.

Day 2 - 25 May 2023

Develop a strategy and marketing plan and create a presentation depicting your pitch.

Day 3 – 30 May 2023

Deliver and present your pitch with your team to My Social Sister and get feedback on your consultancy strategy.
