Staff celebrated at awards evening
More than 250 staff were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the university, to our communities and for their research, at a special celebration event at St George’s Hall which took place last week.
Both academic and professional services staff were brought together to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of individuals and teams across the whole of LJMU.
Awards were given out for the Professional Services Excellence Awards 2024, which were reintroduced after a hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic, alongside the Teaching and Learning Excellence Awards 2024 and the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Research and Knowledge Exchange 2024.
Colleagues confirmed as Professors and Readers in 2024 were also recognised during the evening, alongside a special mention from the Vice-Chancellor for the LJMU staff who helped the university to gain Defence Employer Recognition Scheme gold status last year for supporting the Armed Forces Covenant.
As well as declaring LJMU the ‘Best Dressed University’ the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark Power, stated how proud he is of LJMU’s staff and was delighted to be able to bring everyone together in one single event to ‘demonstrate how incredible all of our staff are’.
He said: “Individual and team recognition is a very important part of the culture of the university.
“The theme of excellence is well represented this evening, setting very, very high standards for the university."
Without doubt, you are all exceptional and we are very proud of all of your achievements.
