Our Academic Year
In the UK, our academic year runs from September to May/June for most undergraduate courses and our postgraduate courses usually run from September through September. We have a small number of courses with the option of a January intake, so look out for the course specific information on our website for your potential start date.
Entry Requirements
Undergraduate Bahraini student applicants who have completed a Bahraini high school qualification must undertake an LJMU Foundation programme. However, you will be considered for direct entry to the first year of study if you have completed one of the following:
- a 2 year diploma
- International Baccalaureate Diploma with 27 points or more
- A Levels
These requirements are a guide only and can differ depending on your course of study and your own personal experience. Email us with details of your current qualifications and we will happily assess your eligibility for entry onto one our courses.
Postgraduate applicants require successful completion of a bachelor’s degree with minimum grade of 2.6 (GPA 4.0 scale).

Scholarships for international students
Scholarships are available to students currently holding study offers at LJMU. The deadline for competitive scholarships is the 31 May.
Achievement Scholarship
LJMU are pleased to be able to offer £2,000 tuition fee discounts to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate applicants without a separate application process. All achievement scholarships are awarded automatically to all who fit the essential criteria as stated below:
Successful candidates must:
- be self-funded
- meet the conditions stated in their full-time course offer letter
- not also have funding from other external sources such as government or employer sponsorship
If you meet the above criteria, we will send an update of your scholarship status in the unconditional offer letter for your course.
