Writing for Wellbeing

Using creative or expressive writing to unload thoughts, musings, emotions can be both surprising and cathartic. The therapeutic value of writing things down has been recognised for many years in clinical contexts but is also a widely used strategy for general personal development.

Sitting down for just five or ten minutes to ‘unload on the page’ is a tool that anyone can use as part of their day-to-day wellbeing practice.

‘Writing for Wellbeing’ Workshops

In a similar way to journaling, our monthly ‘Writing for Wellbeing’ workshops use a range of creative prompts for freewriting; these prompts might include images, quotes, pieces of prose, poetry, or sentence stems. 

Usually set around a theme (e.g. Resilience, Balance, or themes aligned with the seasons), the workshops offer a safe space for participants to do short pieces of writing.

You do not need to be a writer or a poet to attend our workshops, just a willingness to take part and go with wherever your writing takes you!

These workshops enable you to focus on the process of writing rather than any product or output: giving yourself permission to just ‘write without rules’ about whatever emerges from your pen or pencil has the potential to lead to insights, revelations, and greater self-awareness.
