Project NOFOUL
Biofouling is the unwanted growth of bacteria, algae and sessile invertebrates on maritime artificial structures. The example image above shows biofouling (mostly mussels) on the underside of a pontoon in Royal Albert Dock.
We are facilitating greener education and cleaner shipping through the development of NOvel bespoke microtextured metals to combat bioFOULing in niche areas on vessels.
Funded by the International Association of Maritime Universities and Nippon Foundation.
