International Collaboration Thrives as VNU Hosts Research Secondments by UGR and LJMU Scholars
In a bid to foster global research partnerships, Vietnam National University (VNU) has opened its doors to scholars from the University of Granada (UGR) and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) for research secondments. This collaborative initiative sponsored by REMESH aims to exchange expertise and enhance academic cooperation between institutions across continents. Researchers from UGR and LJMU will engage in diverse research projects spanning various disciplines at VNU, leveraging the university's rich academic environment and resources. The exchange program not only facilitates knowledge transfer but also promotes cultural exchange and mutual understanding among scholars from different backgrounds. By working closely together, researchers from VNU, UGR, and LJMU are poised to make significant strides in advancing scientific inquiry and addressing global challenges. Dr Nguyen Khanh Tung, REMESH sponsored visiting professor from Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), presented “A Metaheuristic Approach to the Containers Relocation Problem (CRP).” The novel methodology promises efficient container management strategies, crucial for logistics optimization. Dr Nguyen Khanh Tung's research marks a significant advancement in tackling complex logistical challenges, offering potential solutions for streamlined operations in various industries.
December 2023 to January 2024
In a compelling seminar at LOOM, Prof Dinh Van Dzung (from VNU, sponsored by REMESH project) delved into the transformative realm of "Digital Platforms for Transdisciplinary Innovation." Attended by a diverse audience of academics, and students, the session focused on the pivotal role of digital platforms in fostering collaboration across various disciplines.
Prof Dinh Van Dzung illuminated the audience with insights into emerging trends, real-world case studies, and the evolving landscape of transdisciplinary collaboration. The seminar emphasized the capacity of digital platforms to seamlessly integrate ideas and expertise, breaking down silos among researchers, entrepreneurs, and creatives.
Participants gained practical knowledge from showcased examples of successful transdisciplinary projects that leveraged digital platforms for innovative solutions. Prof Dinh Van Dzung expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the unprecedented opportunities for diverse minds to collaborate and drive positive change through technology.
October to December 2023
University secondments representatives from Lund University, Manchester University and Liverpool John Moores University embarked on an academic collaboration with Mahidol University in Thailand from October to December 2023. The visiting delegates were welcomed with warm hospitality by the host institution. Engaging in knowledge exchange, the visitors presented seminar speeches, lectures, and insightful presentations centered around the REMESH project.
This collaborative initiative fostered an enriching academic environment, promoting the exchange of ideas and expertise among the participating universities. The event not only strengthened international ties but also contributed to the advancement of research and academic discourse in the field.
3 to 5 August 2023
The REMESH project seminar took place at 10.30 am (BTS) on 3rd August 2023, Granada, Spain. All project consortium members attended the meeting. Project coordinator Prof. Jun Ren chaired the meeting and gave a plenary lecture on “ Building Resilient Emergency Supply Chain: A Comprehensive Analysis of Strategies and Best Practices”. During 4th-5th August 2023, REMESH consortium members attended The 7th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS 2023), Granada, Spain.

The REMESH project researchers Ms Mengmeng Tan and Ms Xiyi Chen visited Mahidol university from 2 September to 31 October. Ms Tan and Ms Chen are from Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester.

Researchers (Prof. Miguel Arjona, Raquel Martín and Jana Krizanova) from University of Granada (UGR, Spain) are visiting Vietnam National University (VNU, Hanoi) during July 2022 to September 2022.
26 May 2022
The REMESH project resume meeting took place online at 8.30am (BTS) on 26 May 2022. All project consortium members attended the meeting. Project coordinator Dr Jun Ren chaired the meeting. It is all agreed that the project will be resumed from 1 June 2022 after the suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
5 to 6 October 2020
The REMESH Mid-term Meeting was successfully held between 5 and 6 October 2020 via online Skype platform. The meeting was scheduled to take place in Liverpool, but eventually organized virtually due to COVID-19. The meeting reviewed all the work carried out during the planned period M1-M17 that the project has been running. The first day meeting started with a general overview by the coordinator, and continued with the session of presentations by work-package leaders about their activities. Secondees were invited to present their contribution to RISE network. This session was carried out by introduction and discussion together with commenting by the project officer.
October 2020 online meeting
The second day meeting was devoted to the sessions of "Training, Transfer of Knowledge & Networking” and “Impact: Coordinator/ Participants.” Then the coordinator introduced the project management issues and catch-up plan for project implementation. Furthermore, there was a special session for meeting between seconded staff members and the REA representative. The meeting finished with the open discussion and Q/A, and summarising the outputs of the RISE network so far and recommendations for future. As a result the Agency considers the project implementation for the period M1-M17 satisfactory.
6 October 2020
Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), REMESH partner from China, has successfully organised an international conference on October 6, 2020. The conference MSSS 2020 (International Conference on Maritime Safety and Smart Shipping) gathered experts from over 20 universities and companies from all over the world. The keynote speaker from WUT, Prof. Yong Ma, presented “Intelligent path following and collision-avoidance for unmanned surface vessels” in the conference.
