RNA Bioscience for Participatory Alopecia Research activities
Workshops
We will host two knowledge exchange workshops where alopecia patients can share their experiences and insights.
Topics covered
- The Biology of Alopecia: A Patient Perspective: Discuss participant thoughts on alopecia (inflammation, immune privilege, cell alterations) and views on RNA-directed approaches.
- RNA – From Eternity to Now: Focus on the RNA world hypothesis, recent messenger RNA, and small RNA triumphs.
Questionnaire
Co-created with patients, our questionnaire will seek to understand their views on RNA bioscience and its potential applications.
The insights gathered will help shape our research and ensure it aligns with patient needs.
Lab engagement
Patients will participate in lab-based activities, gaining hands-on experience with RNA research techniques.
This engagement fosters a deeper connection between researchers and patients, enhancing the relevance and impact of our work.
Grant proposal
We will work together to develop a proposal for the Medical Research Council (MRC), focusing on RNA-related questions that matter most to alopecia patients.
We hope to secure funding to advance our research and continue involving patients in meaningful ways.
Project report
Our co-produced final report will detail the project’s outcomes, including patient involvement, research findings and the overall impact on the alopecia and wider community.
The report will be shared widely to inform and inspire future participatory research initiatives.
