Justice in Education (JiE) cluster

About Justice in Education

Based within the Centre for the Study of Crime, Criminalisation and Social Exclusion (CCSE), this cluster seeks to engage in dialogue and discussion about the challenges and preconceptions that surround justice-experienced students. In doing so, we aim to inform the debate regarding students who have lived experience of the Criminal Justice System (whether personally or via those closest to them) and shift the longstanding conversations that frame these dialogues.

Our members include academics, people with personal and/or professional experience of the Criminal Justice System, national charities and Higher Education Institutions who aim to develop collective solutions to inequity in education.

Virtual seminar series

Cluster members are invited to attend regular online seminars that speak to a range of core research areas which include but are not limited to:

  • access to Higher Education for justice-experienced students
  • belonging in Higher Education for justice-experienced students
  • creative collaborations between Higher Education and Criminal Justice institutions
  • mechanisms of support in Higher Education for justice-experienced students
  • pathways to and from Higher Education for justice-experienced students

The seminar series will provide an opportunity for members to share research, engage in dialogue and connect with others. Further information about the seminar series will be distributed to cluster members via our mailing system which you can register interest in joining below.
