3. Staff Car Parking Update

   Following a recent review of LJMU staff car parking provision, the university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2023.

4. Ice Age bone samples reveal DNA links between wolves and dogs

   An international group of geneticists and archaeologists have analysed bones samples, some provided by LJMU, that reveal the ancestry of dogs can be traced to at least two populations of ancient wolves.

   LJMU is set to be part of a ground-breaking Merseyside partnership that protects sex workers from violence.

6. British Academy backs research into COVID policing

   Following the tragic killing of George Floyd in America, questions of police legitimacy and police malpractice are being debated internationally.

7. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

   LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.

8. Students learn traditional techniques to create sustainable fabrics and garments

   Throughout the academic year more than 120 undergraduate, MA and PhD students from a range of disciplines across the Liverpool School of Art and Design have learnt a variety of traditional skills from leatherwork to weaving.

9. Themes emerge from inaugural Liverpool Health Commission investigation

   Liverpool Health Commission, supported by LJMU, is currently midway through its inaugural investigation and is able to report a number of emerging themes.

10. Schoolgirl researchers visit world-class sport science labs

    The year 9 pupils from Liverpool's Holly Lodge Girls College spent two days working alongside world-class scientists in physiology, biomechanics and sport and exercise psychology, as well as current LJMU students, to gain expert insight into sport science research methodology.
