2. LJMU PHD student Valeria Carini recognised at Pandemic Institute’s first Student Excellence Awards

   Valeria was presented the award alongside students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with grants for scientific research, aimed to enhance preparedness for future pandemics.

   LJMU equality and diversity team worked in partnership with SaveraUK to host an inspiring HBA, FGM and FM event in November 2019.

4. Residential Success for Children in Care

   LJMU welcomed 25 young people in care to their annual Year 10 Residential aimed at giving the Year 10 students a real taste of life at University.

5. Illegal fish trade challenged by new technology

   A GENETIC test developed at LJMU could have a dramatic effect on how the UK polices illegal fishing.

6. Training for managers/personal tutors on disabilities and long-term health conditions, including mental health

   The aim of the programme is to offer LJMU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors further support and guidance, in relation to; operating more confidently and effectively, whilst developing themselves and their staff/students positively.

8. Former Chief Constable joins School of Justice Studies

   One of Britain's leading figures in police leadership has joined Liverpool John Moores University as an adjunct Professor.

9. LJMU academic shaping solutions to tackle climate concerns across the construction industry

   Dr Ana Bras has been nominated as chair of an international committee looking to find solutions to climate challenges across the whole chain of construction.
