1. Open Research Week 2024

   Open Research Week 2024 is a collaborative event by LJMU, Edge Hill University, University of Liverpool, and the University of Essex from Monday 26 February to Friday 1 March.

2. Chair and Panel Member Briefing Sessions

   Three in-person sessions are being offered in Exchange Station for academic colleagues who wish to become a Validation/Periodic Programme Review chair or panel member.

3. LJMU's Outdoor Learning Area officially opens

   Trainee teachers and schoolchildren from across the Liverpool City Region are developing new skills and confidence thanks to LJMUs Outdoor Learning Area. The green space in the heart of the city centre has been officially opened this week and is already hugely popular with student teachers and school pupils.

   The Secretariat shares with you the latest update which came into force on Monday 4 December 2023, with immediate effect.

5. Updated Assessment and Feedback Policy

   The policy has been updated with two new areas of activity on internal moderation and the use of generative AI (GenAI) in assessment.

6. Civil engineers offer solution to Bangladesh's toxic construction industry

   A NOVEL brick made from industrial waste has the potential to make a positive environmental impact and create 'clean jobs' in Bangladesh and elsewhere.

7. New role to lead LiRICS

   In line with its Climate Action Plan, LJMU has confirmed additional strategic investment in a new role to lead the Liverpool Research Institute for Climate and Sustainability (LiRICS).

8. Volunteer at our March graduation ceremonies

   Staff are needed to usher graduands and guests, and to carry out other duties at the Anglican Cathedral during our March ceremonies this bicentenary year.

9. Join the LJMU All Staff Football Tournament this September

   On 5 September, LJMU will be hosting an all-staff 5-aside football tournament in the LJMU Sport Building with all levels of football experience welcome.

10. NSS charity donation reaches £4,900

    Our final year students have raised a fantastic £4,900 for charity in the first two weeks of the National Student Survey (NSS) 2020.
