At LJMU we’re changing the way we consume and produce goods to ensure an increased focus on sustainability. The concept of sustainability has influenced our curriculum, with students having the opportunity to learn about sustainable production in existing modules. Fadi is a 2023 graduate from the maritime business and management programme. He came to the UK as a refugee, having fled his home in Damascus, Syria, and gaining his initial qualifications in Greece. He used his dissertation research to highlight the challenges facing the shipping sector and their obligations under international law to help vessels in distress, including refugee and migrant boat crossings.
