1. Ethnically diverse and Ethnic minority to substitute the BAME Acronym across LJMU

   Following a university wide survey and subsequent focus groups, ethnically diverse or ethnic minority are to replace the use of BAME across the university.

2. LJMU Face Lab Fellow produces facial reconstructions for The Quest for Ancestral Faces project

   A facial reconstruction exhibition featuring facial depictions co-curated and co-produced by Director Prof Caroline Wilkinson and Dr Maria Castaneyra-Ruiz, a visiting postdoctoral fellow, from LJMU Face Lab, is to be exhibited in El Museo Canario in Las Palmas.

   LJMU is deeply saddened by the death of His Honour Dr David Lynch who had been a part of the fabric of the university and School of Law for over 50 years.

4. World Mental Health Day: LJMU outlines commitment to mental health and suicide prevention

   Thursday 10 October is World Mental Health Day and LJMU is raising awareness of all aspects of mental health and wellbeing, including suicide prevention, by outlining the support and resources available at the university for students and staff.

5. LJMU first university to be recognised with Cheshire and Merseyside Social Value Award

   The award celebrates LJMU as an ‘anchor institution’ with a university-wide effort contributing to impactful social value across the region.

6. Sport and Exercise Science education adds £3.9 billion income to the UK economy

   Results of a new report show that Sport and Exercise Science courses added £3.9 billion in income to the UK economy, with average salaries for SES graduates after six months of employment at £21,100 per annum. Over the course of their careers, SES graduates earn on average £667,000 more compared to their non-graduate peers.

7. Inspirational student reaches £150,000 target to repay his life-saving bone marrow transplant

   Andrew Davies, who is in his second year studying a Sport and Exercise Science degree, has completed his mission to raise £150,000 to pay back the hospital which saved his life six years ago.

8. New book aims to promote gender equality and celebrate inspirational women in Nepal

   An online book, which aims to change the narrative of women in Nepal and celebrate those who have inspired positive change has been created to help shape research and development projects in low and middle income countries.

9. New way to request visitor parking and out of hours or security access

   Campus Support (Security) now has a number of staff request forms available via the LJMU HelpMe portal, to help with the management of requests.

10. ICC Head of Research invited to join AHRC Peer Review College 2020-23

    Following a competitive nomination process, LJMU's Kerry Wilson has been invited by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to join its academic Peer Review College.
