1. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

2. LJMU rated highly in sustainability table

   LJMU has been ranked as one of the top four universities in the country for ethical investment in a national review of sustainability and ethical investment in higher education.

3. Future-proofing history

   Liverpool workers’ memories of the Elder Dempster Lines, the UK’s largest shipping group trading between Western Europe and West Africa, have been recorded and captured as part of an online archive created by Liverpool John Moores University.

4. Microplastics ‘abundant’ in remote polar seas

   There are similar concentrations of microplastic pollution on the seabed in Antarctica as in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean, scientists have found.

5. LJMU launches cost of living hub to support students

   LJMU has launched a new website hub to help support students through the rising costs of living, including help and advice, plus the financial support available from LJMU and JMSU and how to apply for it.

   Quality Assurance Agency set out standards for degrees for police trainees

7. Over 600 attend Students at the Heart Conference 2024

   Staff and students from across the university have taken part in a two-day conference held on campus around the theme of community.

8. LJMU and Unite Students host inaugural 'Living Black at University' symposium

   A 'research into action symposium' has been held at LJMU. The event, organised by LJMU Associate Deans: Diversity and Inclusion, explored and shared the experiences of Black students at university and discussed how to turn the research into positive action.

9. Student Mental Health Survey now open

   Help us continue to improve our health and wellbeing provision for students at Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool by completing our online mental health survey.

10. Make a difference for The Whitechapel Centre

    For the last two years we have been involved in the Whitechapel Christmas Appeal and thanks to you all donating an amazing amount of gifts, you helped make Christmas special for The Whitechapel Centre clients. We are delighted to be supporting the initiative again and hope that you're are all feeling as generous as in previous years.
