1. Five things for our new students to do before they arrive

   As more students confirm their places at LJMU and we prepare for clearing, here’s five essential things we’ll be encouraging our new students to do as soon as possible.

2. Academic Staff Governor Elections

   Following the call for nominations, eight candidates are standing for election, with the election period opening on Monday 5 June and running until Monday 19 June.

3. Professional Services Staff Governor Elections

   Five candidates have put themselves forwards for the position and voting will take place between Monday 13 and 27 March.

4. Staff Governor voting now open

   All Professional Services staff have until 5pm on Monday 27 March to vote for their preferred Staff Governor candidate.

5. LJMU relations with Nepal strengthened after researchers meet with President

   Researchers from LJMU have met with the President of Nepal, the Right honourable Bidhya Devi Bhandari, to discuss issues relating to education, gender, women's rights and social justice. Dr Sara Parker from Sociology, School of Humanities and Social Science and Rose Khatri from the Centre for Public Health recently met with the President and spoke for almost two hours.

6. In memoriam Professor Peter Fowler

   Former colleague Tony Hughes has shared a tribute about Professor Fowler’s life and incredible contributions in the field of digital education.

7. International Women's Day: digital finance research for women and minority groups in Nigeria

   This International Women’s Day we’re highlighting one of LJMU’s latest research projects led by Dr Alison Lui, Reader in Corporate and Financial Law, as well as events happening across campus.

8. Liverpool welcomes London's Lord Mayor for the day

   The Lord Mayor of the City of London visited Liverpool this week to back a major growth strategy and new vision for the city region. The Lord Mayor, Alderman the Lord Mountevans, met with business leaders in the city region as part of a visit organised by Professional Liverpool and Liverpool in London.

9. Volunteer stories: giving back to the LFC community

   Brett Duffy, Science and Football student received a Student Volunteer Award for his contribution to the LFC Foundation.

10. Homeless World Cup: Sport for health research

    LJMU's School of Sport & Exercise Science hosts Homeless World Cup players and researches impact on individuals
