1. Lord Field of Birkenhead

   The university is saddened to learn of the death of our honorary fellow, Frank Field.

2. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

3. Registration for the Students at the Heart Conference 2023 is now open

   This year’s Students at the Heart Conference will take place on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 June and you can now register for sessions and workshops.

4. Events and support for disabled and neurodivergent students

   Disability History Month begins this week (16 November- 16 December) and LJMU has a range of events, careers advice sessions and support available for students.

   A new 1.7m multinational research project - TIMED - is led by LJMUs Dr Ruth Ogden, who shared her thoughts with us.

7. Empower Programme for students on the Autism spectrum

   The NHS Merseyside Health Sector Career and Engagement Hub is running the Empower programme - a pre-employment transition workshop for second and final year LJMU students on the Autism spectrum.

8. Graduate and Placement Jobs Fair

   The Graduate and Placement Jobs Fair takes place on Wednesday 18 October at the Student Life Building, 12-3pm. It will feature 60+ organisations from a range of sectors looking to hire students from across all courses and disciplines. If you have a disability, health condition or are neurodivergent and find busy fairs can be overwhelming, join us from 11am for our accessibility hour.

9. World Menopause Day: LJMU hosts first 'Café' discussion

   LJMU is to hold its first Menopause Café to break down the taboo around menopause and to increase awareness of its impact.
